National Cadet Corps (NCC) - IIIT Bhagalpur
About Us
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) was established on 09 October 2025 at Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Bhagalpur, Bihar. NCC is a tri-services organization comprising the Army, Navy, and Air Force, engaged in grooming the youth as “The Leaders of Tomorrow” into disciplined and patriotic citizens.
The genesis of NCC can be traced back to the First World War, when the British created the University Corps as a second line of defense and to maintain a large pool of trained youth for employment in the Armed Forces. After independence, the present-day NCC came into existence on 16 April 1948 under the Ministry of Defence through the NCC Act, XXXVI of 1948. NCC was formally inaugurated on 15 July 1948. The Girls Division was introduced in July 1949. Presently, NCC has approximately 18 lakh cadets across the country.
On-going Activities
Cadets of NCC under IIIT Bhagalpur regularly organize various activities such as: Drill, Tree Plantation, Blood Donation, Adventure Training, Social Walk, Run for Fun Rally, Pledge against Social Evils, No Tobacco Day, Anti-Terrorism Day, NCC Day Celebrations, Traffic Control, Cyber Crime Awareness, Digital India Campaign, Women Domestic Violence Awareness
NCC Song
Initially, NCC adopted “Kadam Mila Ke Chal” as its official song in 1963. In October 1982, it was replaced by the current NCC song “Ham Sabh Bhartiya Hain”, written by Sudarshan Faqir. The song emphasizes national unity, brotherhood, secular values, and patriotism.
NCC Flag
The NCC flag, introduced in 1954, is a tricolor with vertical stripes of:
- Red – Army
- Navy Blue – Navy
- Light Blue – Air Force
The center features the NCC crest in gold, encircled by 17 lotus flowers representing the 17 Directorates, with the motto “Unity and Discipline.”

NCC Motto
The motto of NCC is “Unity and Discipline” (Ekta aur Anushasan), adopted on 23 December 1957. It reflects the spirit of bringing together youth from different backgrounds into disciplined and united citizens.
Preamble of NCC
NCC is governed by the NCC Act 1948 and attendant NCC Rules. It functions under the Ministry of Defence and is headed by the Director General NCC (DGNCC). It is organized into 17 State Directorates, each headed by an Additional/Deputy Director General.
Cadet Oath
"I pledge to serve faithfully in the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program and that I will attend meetings regularly, participate actively in unit activities, obey my officers, wear my uniform properly and advance my education and training rapidly to prepare myself to be of service to my community, state and nation."
NCC Day
NCC Day is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of November every year to commemorate the establishment of the first NCC units in Delhi in 1948.
Objectives of NCC
- Develop character, camaraderie, discipline, secular outlook, adventure spirit, and sportsmanship.
- Create interest in cadets through exciting and engaging institutional training.
- Inculcate Defence Services work ethos such as hard work, sincerity, honesty, and selfless service.
- Create a pool of organized, trained, and motivated youth with leadership qualities.
- Motivate young Indians to choose the Armed Forces as a career.
Message for NCC Cadets
It is a great honor and privilege to welcome you to IIIT Bhagalpur, one of the IIITs established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The institute started functioning in 2017.
The NCC unit currently has 50 seats, including 14 for Senior Division (SD) and 4 for Senior Wing (SW). Joining NCC helps cadets become disciplined, punctual, and responsible individuals. Through training, cadets understand the true meaning of unity and how togetherness helps overcome challenges.
