Dear Friends

IIIT Bhagalpur is on a fascinating path of growth and development. As you are aware, it has already made its impact as technological institutes in the country, but that is just the tip of the iceberg compared to the huge initiatives and progress the institute is making. The institute’s own campus on 50 acres on the bank of river Ganga is fast getting ready to be operational within a short span of time . We shall be going to occupy the first phase of the campus by the end of Year 2020. The institute has increased its student strength from a meagre 70 in 2017 to over 280 today which is likely to increase by 450 in 2020.

Our faculty strength has increased during the last two years from 10 to 16 We are expecting this to increase to 25 by 2020. Apart from existing departments of Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering, we are going to start our Post Graduate Programmes (M.Tech) to the domains of Mechatronics Engineering, Electronics Engineering and Computer Science Engineering. The research is a major focus of IIIT Bhagalpur which is evident from the fact that we have got the highest scientific citations per paper among all the new IIITs, which is an indicator of high quality of research done

The excellence in teaching and research comes from the careful choice of faculty members in which IIIT Bhagalpur has not made any compromise. This year, we have introduced the newly designed curriculum which is based on the principle of more hands on experience with strong fundamentals offering more choices to the students and imbibing social and national commitments in them. IIIT Bhagalpur has expanded its outreach to industry and the best academic institution in the world by entering into active collaborations with them. Research collaboration is not an additional feather in our cap but an integral part of our growth.

Recently IIIT Bhagalpur has adopted a new mission and vision for the institute according to which we want to become a leader among the institutes established in the new millennium. We have made a stunning beginning but there is a long way to go but I am sure, with the active cooperation of all our stakeholders, students, faculty, staff, collaborators, parents of the students, governmental organizations and public at large, we will be able to fulfil the motto of IIIT Bhagalpur.
